Alura Alternatives for Etsy POD Sellers (2026): 5 Options Compared - post cover

Key takeaways

  • Alura is a research and marketing tool for Etsy: keyword and product research, Pinterest pinning and Etsy Ads optimization, with a free plan.

  • The closest like-for-like alternatives are eRank, EverBee, Sale Samurai and Marmalead; each leans on a different kind of data.

  • Listybox is a different category: it builds, publishes and fulfills listings, and checks tag competition with Tag Health.

  • Pick by your actual bottleneck: data quality points to another research tool, the work after research points to a listing tool.

You have probably heard of Alura. Maybe you already use it to look at keyword suggestions and competitor shops. Sellers usually look for an alternative for one of two reasons: they want different or deeper data, or they have the data and the bottleneck is everything that comes after it. Those two reasons lead to different tools.

Below are five alternatives, four research tools and one listing tool, with what each says about itself on its own site and the seller it suits. Claims were read on each vendor’s page on 4 October 2026.

What Is Alura and What Are Its Limitations?

Alura says it is used by 848,058+ Etsy sellers. Its free plan includes up to 5 daily searches per tool, 10 optimized listings, limited research databases, a profit calculator and a Chrome extension. Paid plans add more usage, full research databases, Pinterest marketing, A/B tests, an analytics suite and Etsy Ads optimization, with email marketing as an add-on. Plan prices change with the billing period on its pricing page, so check them there.

What it does not do: design products, make mockups, publish listings to Etsy or handle orders. That is not a flaw in a research tool; it is the boundary of the category.

1. eRank: the broad research option

eRank’s free plan has no time limit and includes 5 keyword lookups a day, one shop with 50 listings and 5 listing audits a day. Paid plans are Basic $5.99/month, Pro $9.99/month and Expert $29.99/month; competitor tracking goes from 5 shops on Basic to 50 on Pro and 200 on Expert.

Suits: sellers who want the most research for the money.

2. EverBee: sales estimates

EverBee’s free Hobby plan shows views, reviews and favorites and allows 10 keyword searches; paid plans add estimated sales and revenue, lift the keyword limit and add a Keyword Score. Its free Chrome extension works inside Etsy search.

Suits: sellers who pick products by how much similar listings appear to sell.

3. Sale Samurai: Etsy search volume

Sale Samurai has a free plan with 20 keyword searches and 10 listing analyses a month and a 3-day free trial. Sale Samurai’s paid plan is $19.99/month. It promotes “real Etsy search volume & trends” and a view of top-selling listings.

Suits: sellers who mainly want keyword volume for tags.

4. Marmalead: one focused keyword tool

Marmalead is $19/month, $16/month billed yearly ($190) or a one-time $300 lifetime plan. It focuses on search volume, letter grades for your listings and social trends. Its pricing page shows no free plan.

Suits: sellers who prefer one deep keyword tool to a broad dashboard.

5. Listybox: when research is not the bottleneck

Listybox is not a research database. It covers the steps after research. Tag Health scores a listing’s 13 tags against live Etsy competition and suggests lower-competition swaps. Magic Wand writes titles, tags and descriptions you can edit. You publish to Etsy directly, and orders go to production partners. For more on the search side, see our Etsy SEO guide.

Suits: print-on-demand sellers who already know what to sell and lose their week to building listings. If you want a cheaper Alura with the same shape, choose one of the four research tools above instead.

Why Do Etsy Sellers Need More Than Just an SEO Tool?

A research tool tells you a niche is worth trying. You still need to:

  • Create or choose the design

  • Make mockups for each product

  • Write titles, tags and descriptions

  • Upload everything to Etsy

  • Place each order with a print provider and send tracking back

If that list is where your hours go, a different research tool will not change much. That is the case for a listing tool.

How Does an All-in-One Platform Compare to Separate Tools?

Separate tools give you the best of each category and the most control. The cost is switching between them and moving data by hand. An all-in-one tool removes the hand-offs but may go less deep in any single area, so check that the parts you rely on are covered.

In Listybox the steps after research look like this:

You can explore all features to see how they connect.

Making the Switch: From Research Tool to Listing Tool

If your complaint is the data, try eRank, EverBee, Sale Samurai or Marmalead on their free plans or trials and compare the keywords they return for your niche. If your complaint is the work after research, try Listybox on the free plan with a few designs you already have.

Frequently asked questions

For research, often yes. Alura's free plan gives up to 5 daily searches per tool and 10 optimized listings, and its paid plans add keyword and product research, Pinterest marketing and Etsy Ads optimization. It does not design products, publish listings or handle orders, so judge it as a research and marketing tool.
eRank's free plan has no time limit and includes 5 keyword lookups a day and listing audits. EverBee's Hobby plan is free and focuses on listing analytics. Sale Samurai has a free plan with 20 keyword searches a month. Which one is best depends on whether you want keywords, sales estimates or both.
Yes. They do different jobs: Alura researches keywords and products, Listybox builds and publishes the listings and checks tag competition with Tag Health. Some sellers keep a research tool for discovery and use Listybox to build the listings.
It depends on where your time goes now. If most of your week is research, a different research tool changes little. If most of it is making mockups, writing listings and placing orders, a tool that does those steps saves more. Track one week of your own work before you decide.
Partly, and in a different way. Listybox's Tag Health scores each listing's 13 tags against live Etsy competition and suggests lower-competition alternatives, and Magic Wand writes the title, tags and description. It is not a standalone keyword database like Alura's research tools.
